How ash burns

Ash is prized for its steady, longer-lasting burn. If birch is your quick-start flame, ash is the dependable “keep it going” fuel—ideal for long evenings and maintaining consistent stove temperature.

What you’ll receive

Your logs are hand-stacked in a wooden crate for tidy storage and consistent value compared with loosely filled bags.

FAQs

Are these logs Ready to Burn (under 20% moisture)?

Yes. These are kiln-dried logs designed for clean, efficient burning and are typically under 20% moisture (Ready to Burn / Woodsure certified where stated). Lower moisture helps them light more easily, burn hotter, and produce less smoke than wet firewood.

What size are the logs — will they fit my stove?

Most of our crate logs are cut to a stove-friendly length of 25cm. The exact log length is shown in the Specification tab. If you have a smaller firebox, checking the stated length helps ensure an easy fit for wood burners and multi-fuel stoves.

How much wood is in a crate?

Medium-sized crates have 1.20m³ of stacked logs in them. That is ~1.676m³ loose equivalent.

The giant crates have 1.52m³. That is ~2.13m³ loose equivalent.

How is a log crate delivered — and what access is needed?

Crates are delivered by pallet (kerbside delivery). The driver will deliver to the nearest safe point accessible by a pallet truck, typically the kerbside or driveway entrance rather than inside a property. Please ensure reasonable access (firm, level ground and no steps). If access is tight, contact us before ordering.

Birch vs Oak vs Ash — which should I choose?

Birch is popular for quick lighting and a lively flame, making it great when you want fast room heat. Oak is denser and typically suits longer, steadier burn cycles once your stove is up to temperature. Ash is a strong all-rounder many customers choose for consistent everyday burning. If you like, you can mix woods across orders (for example, birch for start-up and oak/ash for longer burns).

Does this crate include kindling / what’s included?

If the product title says “with 4 nets of kindling”, those nets are included with the crate. If the title doesn’t mention kindling, the crate is logs only. For best results, start with dry kindling and a natural firelighter, then add 1–2 logs once the firebox is hot.
