General
I am having problems making a card payment / my card keeps being rejected. What should I do?
Please be careful when entering your details. It is very easy to get your details entered incorrectly.
One of the main reasons for cards being rejected is that they can be registered to a different address than the one where you have asked the delivery to be made to.
To prevent this from happening please make sure that you enter both the delivery address and the registered card address when checking out.
Why haven't I received any confirmation or dispatch emails?
When you have placed and paid for an item through the website you should receive an email within a few minutes. You will also receive an email once the item you have ordered has been dispatched from us.
If you haven't received any emails please contact us at sales@dawsonsfuels.co.uk and we will do our best to help. The main reasons for the emails not getting through are:
* The emails have been directed into your spam / junk folders - please add sales@dawsonsfuels.co.uk to your address book to prevent this from happening.
* When checking out, the email address has been entered incorrectly.

Are Kiln Dried Logs value for money?
We believe that the kiln dried logs offer excellent value for money. They are more consistent in size and length, which makes for easier storage and easier re-fuelling of your stove or fire.
They are consistently dry therefore you can burn them straight away. There is no seasoning required. The crates that the logs are delivered in have been hand stacked. This leaves fewer air gaps, so you end up with much more wood for your money when compared to a tote bag.
I have an open fire, which fuels do you recommend?
We would recommend using either manufactured solid fuels or any of our Ready to Burn kiln dried logs or heat logs.
The manufactured solid fuels / smokeless fuels will give a longer burn time than wood based products, but will be harder to get going.
Wood based products will be easier to light, but won't last as long.
What are the manufactured fuels made from?
The manufactured fuels all have different ingredients. Usually, but not always they will contain anthracite, house coal, petroleum coke and a binder, which is quite often molasses.
All of the manufactured solid fuels / smokeless fuels we sell are Ready to Burn approved and have a sulphur content of 2% or less.
What if I am not happy with my products?
We will accept returned goods within 7 days of delivery. The products must be returned in their original packaging and condition.
There will be a charge for returning the order to cover the cost of delivery and this will vary depending on your location. It is usually around £70.
Which fuel is the best?
This will depend upon many factors, such as the appliance the fuel is used on and the amount of draught you get from your chimney.
Many stove manufacturers will suggest certain products for their appliances.
If you need any advice please call us on 015396 20210 and we will be more than happy to help.
Why don't you sell wood by weight?
Wood should not be sold be weight as there is a vast difference in weight between seasoned and unseasoned wood. Seasoned wood should have less than 30% moisture content whereas unseasoned wood will have around 50% moisture.
You may think you are getting more wood for you money if you bought by weight, but in fact you are paying extra for water.
This is why wood should always be sold by volume.
Why can I no longer buy house coal?
From the 1st May 2021, the sale of house coal in pre-packed bags was banned when new legislation from the Government's Clean Air Strategy became law.
From 1st May 2023 the sale of house coal in the traditional 50kg open sacks was banned.
The ban is on the sale of coal, but not the use. If you have stocks of pre-packed house coal, you can still burn it and you would not be breaking the law.
We have many suitable cleaner alternatives to house coal and they can be seen in our stove fuel section of the website.
