Delivery Access Requirements (please read before ordering)
To ensure a smooth delivery, please check the following:
Vehicle Access
Our delivery trucks are typically the size of a large dustbin lorry (18‑tonne vehicles). If access is restricted, you may request a smaller 7.5‑tonne vehicle, but please note:
-
Not all depots have 7.5t vehicles.
-
7.5t vehicles can only unload pallets up to 750kg.
-
If we don’t believe that a successful delivery can be made to your property, your order will be cancelled and your money will be refunded.
Surface Requirements
-
The vehicle must be able to park safely on a solid, level surface.
-
Delivery cannot be made on steep slopes, gravel, soft ground, or uneven surfaces.
-
The pallet truck cannot be used on grass or loose gravel.
If you have concerns about access, please contact us before ordering so we can advise.
Kerbside Delivery Explained
All palletised deliveries are classed as kerbside, which means:
-
Deliveries are made to your kerb, driveway entrance, or nearest accessible point.
-
Our drivers will do their best to place the pallet where you want it, but for safety and insurance reasons, they are strictly limited to kerbside delivery if the surface isn't suitable.
-
Drivers will always help where it is safe and practical, but cannot move pallets over uneven or unsafe ground.
Delivery Confirmation & Tracking
Once your goods have been dispatched:
-
You will receive a tracking email.
-
For timed or specific delivery arrangements, please contact us and we will do our best to accommodate.

- Order placed and confirmed by email
- Order dispatched
- Tracking details emailed
- Delivery completed (kerbside / nearest safe access point)
- Inspect and note any issues on arrival
Inspecting Your Delivery
When your delivery arrives:
-
Inspect the pallet and items before signing.
-
If there is any visible damage, please note it on the driver’s paperwork.
-
If goods are severely damaged, you may refuse the delivery.
This helps us resolve any issues quickly.
Unsigned / “Leave Safe” Delivery
If you arrange a 'Leave Safe' delivery (leaving the pallet without a signature), Dawsons Fuels cannot be held liable for the condition of the pallet or its final resting location once delivered.
Failed or Refused Deliveries
If a delivery cannot be completed due to:
-
Incorrect or incomplete address information,
-
Unsafe delivery conditions,
-
No one being available to receive the delivery (where required), or
-
Access restrictions that were not disclosed,
…then the order may be returned to us. In these cases:
-
A refund will be issued minus all haulage charges incurred.
Please ensure you provide accurate information and confirm access suitability before ordering.
