Why choose bagged kiln-dried ash logs?

This pallet is designed for customers who want a substantial supply of steady-burning firewood in manageable, individually packed quantities.

The 24-bag format offers several practical advantages:

• Move and use one bag at a time
• Store the logs in separate, tidy packs
• Avoid unloading an entire wooden crate immediately
• Distribute the bags between different storage areas
• Keep the remaining logs packed until they are required

The bags do not have carry handles, but the separate 60-litre packs are generally easier to manage individually than unloading and moving a full crate of logs.

How do kiln-dried ash logs burn?

Ash is an excellent all-round firewood. It combines relatively easy lighting with strong heat output and a steady, long-lasting burn.

Ash logs are particularly well suited to:

• Regular everyday use in wood-burning stoves
• Providing strong and dependable heat
• Longer fires that require less frequent refuelling
• Customers who want a balance between easy lighting and burn duration
• Producing consistent heat in stoves and open fires

Ash is denser than birch and therefore generally burns for longer. Properly kiln-dried ash still lights readily when used with suitable kindling and firelighters.

The logs may also be used in suitable fire pits and wood-fired pizza ovens, subject to the appliance manufacturer’s instructions.

How much wood is on the pallet?

The pallet contains 24 tightly packed bags, each with a nominal capacity of 60 litres.

24 × 60 litres = 1,440 litres, or 1.44m³ combined nominal bag capacity.

This figure describes the combined nominal capacity of the bags. It is not a measurement of solid timber and should not be treated as an exact loose-volume or stacked-volume equivalent.

The bags are tightly packed rather than loosely filled. Comparisons with tote bags, bulk bags or hand-stacked crates should therefore take account of the different packing methods and the varying amounts of air between individual logs.

How does this compare with a hand-stacked crate?

A wooden crate is measured using its hand-stacked log volume, whereas this product is measured using the nominal capacity of 24 individual bags. The figures describe different packing methods and are not directly interchangeable.

Choose the bagged pallet if individually packed logs and easier handling are your priorities. Choose a hand-stacked crate if you prefer fewer packages and are happy to unload and store the logs after delivery.

What is included?

Your order contains:

• One pallet containing 24 stitched polypropylene bags
• Approximately 60 litres of tightly packed logs in each bag
• 100% ash hardwood logs
• Split logs with natural bark
• Logs cut to approximately 24cm, with a tolerance of ±1cm
• A pallet cover fitted for transport and temporary weather protection

Kindling and firelighters are not included.

The bags are white and are not transparent, perforated, ventilated or fitted with carry handles. They are stitched closed for transport and storage.

Ready to Burn and PEFC-certified ash logs

The logs are Ready to Burn certified under certificate number WS6431/00001 and typically measure below 20% moisture.

They are ready to use without further seasoning, provided they are kept dry and properly stored after delivery.

The bags display PEFC certification number PEFC/12-31-084.

Burning properly dried firewood helps your appliance operate more efficiently and produces a cleaner, more dependable fire than burning wet or insufficiently seasoned logs.

How to store the bagged logs

The pallet will arrive with a protective pallet cover. This provides protection during transport and temporary cover immediately after delivery, but it is not intended as a permanent outdoor storage solution.

Move the bags under suitable cover for long-term storage.

• Store the bags somewhere dry and protected from rain
• Keep them raised above wet ground
• Avoid leaving the pallet exposed outdoors for prolonged periods
• Check that water cannot collect around or beneath the bags
• Do not rely on the transport cover as permanent weatherproof storage

Free standard delivery is included to most UK mainland postcodes. Enter your postcode during checkout to confirm availability and view any applicable regional surcharge before payment.

The 24 bags are supplied together on one pallet and covered for transport.

National orders are normally delivered to the kerbside or nearest safe and accessible point. The pallet truck requires a firm, flat and level surface such as concrete or tarmac.

Pallet trucks cannot normally operate safely over grass, loose gravel, steps, steep slopes, soft ground or badly uneven surfaces.

Local delivery using our own vehicles is available in parts of South Cumbria, North Lancashire and North Yorkshire. Collection is also available from our depot in Sedbergh.
