FAQs
What are firelighters used for?
Firelighters help you get a fire going quickly and reliably. They’re designed to ignite kindling and create a strong flame bed so you can add logs, heat logs, briquettes or smokeless fuel more easily.
Are these firelighters suitable for wood burners, multi-fuel stoves and open fires?
Yes. These firelighters are suitable for lighting fires in wood burners, multi-fuel stoves and open fires (and many are also used for BBQs and fire pits). Always follow your appliance manufacturer’s guidance and general fire safety advice.
How do I use firelighters for best results?
Place 1 firelighter on the grate/fire bed and stack dry kindling above it with plenty of airflow. Light the firelighter, let the kindling establish, then add 1–2 logs or fuel pieces at a time. If you’re lighting larger fuel loads, you may need 2 firelighters.
What’s the difference between wood wool, “tea bag”, wrapped and traditional firelighters?
- Wood wool: natural fibres with wax — quick, steady burn to establish kindling.
- “Tea bag” firelighters: designed to light cleanly with minimal mess; you light the bag.
- Individually wrapped: cleaner storage and handling; light the wrapper directly.
- Traditional firelighters: classic, cost-effective option for everyday use.
How should I store firelighters?
Store firelighters in a cool, dry place away from direct heat, open flames and damp. Keep them sealed/packaged until use and out of reach of children and pets.
How are the firelighters delivered?
Firelighters are sent by parcel courier. Delivery times and any postcode surcharges (if applicable) are shown at checkout. If the cart asks you to select a delivery date, that date selection applies to pallet deliveries — parcel items ship as soon as possible.
